In 1942 Mary Louise Hancock graduated from the University of New Hampshire, with a degree in English.
From
1979 to 1987, Mary Louise served two terms as a member of the Board
of Trustees of the University. During her eight year tenure, she sought
equal opportunity for women on the campus in the areas of pay, recognition,
and respect. She served as board secretary, chair of the Academic, Faculty
and Student Affairs Committee and on the search committee that hired UNH Chancellor
Claire Van Ummerson and Keene State College President Judith Sturnick.
She has long served UNH Alumni Association and has been her Class Secretary and still keeps class notes for her class.
